- CONCEPT -

Currently, commercial galleries specializing in contemporary art, known as mega-galleries in Europe and the United States, employ dozens of photographers as artists. Similarly, several super photographers have emerged in Asian countries such as China and South Korea. However, in Japan, the value of photography as a work of art is low, and the status of photographers is generally low. We believe that this is not only an issue for artists, but also for the entire market, including the audience.

Artists are responsible for creating works that have artistic value and pricing them appropriately to match that value, and they also need to find ways for their audiences to be able to purchase their works with peace of mind. It is also essential to receive fair compensation and create an environment where you can concentrate on creating your next work. Similarly, the audience must not only view and enjoy the work, but also consider owning the work as an option, and deeply understand the value of the work. By actively engaging and supporting the art photography market, we play a vital role in stimulating and growing the market and promoting recognition of artists and their work.

Our goal at icon is for artists and audiences to stimulate each other, revitalize the Japanese art photography market, and bring it to a global level.
