The name "photograph" is said to have been proposed by the astronomer John Herschel (1792-1871), who is also known for inventing the blueprint, and it combines the words "photo-" meaning "of light" and "-graph" meaning "to write or draw" or "something that is written."
Since ancient times, people have sometimes imagined sacred beings in the nature that is born from the geography and climate of Japan's island nation, and have been drawn to its universal beauty.
Yabusaki pursues in his photographs the solemn, invisible presence felt in nature, and moments when the heart is moved by the tense atmosphere and beauty. As the etymology of the word "photograph" suggests, "to capture and paint light," he edits and produces photographs that capture the scene captured at the moment the shutter is pressed, as if painting it, creating photographs that are both realistic and fantastical, capturing the other side of the mist from each individual leaf.

Using water as a motif, I explore the universal beauty that resides in change, and pursue expressions that resonate with the heart through the visual sense.
It would be my greatest joy if the ever-changing appearance of the water could reflect the flow of time and the cycle of life, and gently awaken your inner senses.

Jiro Yabusaki / Photographer
Jiro Yabusaki is an artist whose theme is "spiritual resonance brought about by nature," and who has consistently used "water" as a motif since his debut. Yabusaki's works are characterized by a unique style that depicts the beautiful colors and details of his subjects in a detailed and three-dimensional manner, using the latest digital painting techniques on top of photography. His works are called "real beyond real" by art collectors, and he has a wide fan base both in Japan and overseas. By merging ultra-high-definition depictions that capture the beauty of nature's shapes to the last detail, vivid and dynamic color expressions, and precise framing that eliminates all man-made objects that give the impression of human beings from the composition, he creates unique, realistic and fantastical art photos that are deeply engraved in the memory and psyche of the viewer.
