KOTOKO
Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 2001, currently based in Tokyo.
With a spirit of looking at the world from an askew perspective and finding amusement in it, KOTOKO depicts worlds slightly out of sync with reality using a humorous and droll touch. Influenced by the Showa-era manga owned by her mother and aunt, she aims to create works that shake the viewer's mind, using motifs that combine the absurdity and coldness of human nature.
Primarily working with acrylic gouache and markers, she produces work with vibrant colors and a sense of freedom. In addition to canvas pieces, she works across various mediums including illustration boards and textiles. In recent years, she has expanded her activities to include participation in art fairs such as Art fair Beppu and Different Kyomachbori, as well as the creation of wall art for the Pentel × Mural Rookies Project.
Currently active with a focus on a free-spirited playfulness that is not bound by rules.
