Born in a public housing complex in the 60s, I was strongly drawn to the exquisite color scheme and the design sense of the playground equipment. Memories flooded back of the excitement of encountering unseen playground equipment when venturing to the park in the neighboring housing complex, and a feeling akin to fear as if I had stumbled into another world. Her painting evoked a lighthearted thrill, like reading a sci-fi novel about going beyond the neighboring housing complex to a neighboring star, or perhaps an imaginary city.
