Photo book "England – Hawaii"

"Ruck-tote" is a bag that combines a backpack and a tote.

Tote bags have handles and an opening on the top, making it easy to check the contents and take things in and out while the bag is on your shoulder. On the other hand, backpacks have handles on the sides, so they fit snugly against your body, and the cushioning and length-adjustable straps make them less tiring to wear. Wanting to combine the convenience of both, we designed a bag that feels like a backpack when you're on the move, but allows you to easily take things in and out like a tote.

The shape of the bag is a slightly irregular pentagon, which shifts the center of gravity, and the heavier the contents are, the more the handles turn sideways, making it feel like a one-shoulder backpack. If you tilt the bag slightly, the opening turns upwards, so it can be used like a tote. The details and metal fittings of the shoulder strap are as "backpack-like" as possible, and the fabric is deliberately made of "tote-like" canvas, so that the hybrid nature of the two is not only functional but also visually distinctive.
